Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Here we go again with the ASN arbitrarily changing rules in the middle of the year for no good reason. Section 22)q Spark Plugs!!!
The Old rule. Spark Plug must be the same reach as a Stock Plug - 0.750" measured from the upper gasket surface to the lower squared edge of the threaded portion of the plug. The maximum being 0.755". This rule has been around for ever & has never even been talked about at a year end rules meeting in the past. All of a sudden somebody finds an oddball spark plug that does not fit into the rule book & the ASN changes the rules to accommodate it.
The new rule reads that the maximum reach is now 0.770" that's .020" longer than stock. This does not sound like much but it will change the closed combustion chamber volume of the eng. We cc the eng. to keep everybody in the same playing field but the ASN in it's infinite wisdom has allowed 1 plug a definite advantage over all of the others. It's this kind of infantile mentality that we have come to expect from the ASN with the rule book.
A 3/4" plug is a 3/4" plug not a 0.770" plug, it's that simple. If we were having problems finding 3/4" plugs I could understand a rule change but we are not & to accommodate 1 oddball plug is just wrong. A 0.770" plug is not legal.....
I think it's time for Ontario to take back it's 4 cycle rule book.
