Kawartha Durham Kart Club
For over 15 years, the Kawartha Durham Kart Club has been a popular destination for both up-and-coming racers and hobby drivers in the Peterborough, Ontario region. Focused on providing a fun, safe, and family-oriented-environment, the club allows drivers of all skill levels to showcase their talents in a highly-competitive setting. The club contests a 12-race championship, starting in late April and running through early October. The Kawartha Durham Kart Club also holds special events such as night races, post-race food gatherings, and charity activities, further building the social aspect of the club.
History
The Kawartha Durham Kart Club was formed in 1996, and was initially known as the Mosport Kart Club. Hosting Club, Regional, National, and International events, including the Sunoco Ron Fellows Championship, the Canadian Karting Championships, and the 1998 North American Karting Championship Race (a CIK-FIA event which qualified racers for the World Karting Championships), the club has been the first step in the motorsports ladder for numerous drivers. In the spring of 2009, the club moved to its new home at Kawartha Downs and Speedway in Fraserville, Ont. (southwest of Peterborough), and was renamed the Kawartha Durham Kart Club.
Alumni of note include former Canadian Rotax DD2 champion Darren White, Ontario Formula Ford Championship title winner Michael Adams, OFFC series runner-up Caitlin Johnston, and current Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) racer and former Formula Renault 3.5 Series and Formula BMW USA champion Robert Wickens.

Track
The skilled Kawartha Durham Kart Club drivers call Kawartha Downs and Speedway home. Situated within the Fraserville, Ont. oval track, the club utilizes the track banking, straightaways, pit lanes, and some new paved sections to create six different layouts. The longest configuration – almost a full kilometer - features eight turns, while the shortest design - 0.69-km - consists of six corners. With the multiple options, KDKC drivers get the opportunity to race both technical and high-speed tracks, with plenty of drafting and overtaking opportunities on each.
