Quebec-based racer and former karting star Jesse Lazare has announced that he has joined Micks Motorsports for the 2013 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series road course events starting with the season-opener at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Victoria Day weekend (May 18-19).

"This is very exciting - it was hard to keep quiet about it," Lazare said. "I want to thank DoorDoctor.com for all their support, along with Garaga. I know both Kerry Micks and Mark Dilley are front-runners in the NCTS, and to be able to join their team is just a dream come true. I can't wait to get in the car and start testing."

Micks Motorsport is happy to get the chance to work with the three-time Canadian National Karting champion.

"Jesse's reputation in karting is second to none, and I know he had a lot of success in the open-wheel cars he was driving last year," Mark Dilley said. "He's young, has a lot to learn, but he is one of Canada's brightest up and coming drivers, and we can't wait to start working with him this year."

Kerry Micks will be behind getting Lazare up to speed.

"We have a good testing plan in place to get him up to speed in these cars," Micks, a winner at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and at the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres said. "As soon as the snow is gone, we'll get him in the car."

Lazare will drive the DoorDoctor.com/Garaga Micks Motorsport entry in select road course events this year, but already his focus in on the series opener at CTMP.

"I learned a lot last year racing [formula] cars, but this is going to be completely different," Lazare said. "It will be a huge challenge, and I feel that having Kerry, Mark and the team helping me, it will be a good year."

Lazare is a 15 year-old kart racer from Dollard des Ormeaux, Que. He is a three-time Canadian Karting National Champion. Lazare's meteoric rise up the karting ranks has been nothing short of amazing. In 2006, as a Cadet, he was second in the Coupe Vega. In 2007, as the youngest driver in Mini Max he was the Champion in both the Coupe Vega and Coupe de Montreal. Lazare set new records in 2008 by starting out as vice-champion in the Florida Winter Tour, then winning both Honda Jr. and Mini Max in both the Coupe Vega and Coupe de Montreal. He was also Canadian National Champion in Mini Max. In 2010, Lazare won the ECKC Rotax Jr. championship and the Coupe de Quebec Rotax Max Jr. Champion. In 2011, he was the Rotax Max National Champion and he represented Canada at the Rotax Max World Finals. In 2012, he captured his third Canadian National Championship, this time in Rotax Max Senior and again represented Canada at the Rotax Max World Finals. Away from the track, Lazare enjoys skiing and hockey, and he attends Lindsay Place High School in Pointe Claire, Que. He is supported by Door Doctor, http://www.doordoctor.com
