Officials are proud to present 'KMS North America' as the new racing team to replace the SRA Karting team.

At the head of the team will be Peter Kalman from Hungary. Kalman has a vast amount of experience in karting, not only as a driver, where he was a factory racer with Mach 1 in Formula A and former teammate of Robert Kubica, but also as a tuner and team manager. In recent times, Kalman has been the head of the very successful KMS Hungary team, which participated in the Rotax Euro Challenge, winning the DD2 category in 2008, and then taking the crown in 2011 in Rotax Senior. Also in the same year, he took the Rotax Grand Finals victory in Senior with Ben Cooper. Most recently at this year’s Grand Finals they repeated the same feat in the DD2 category.

Cooper will join Kalman in running the new KMS North America team as a Coach/Driver. With the two having previously worked together very closely and successfully, everything is there for the new team to succeed.

KMS North America will be based at Circuit Karting Mont Tremblant, and will therefore work very closely with the Jim Russell Karting Academy. This will allow team drivers, as well as any other drivers, to come and participate in a whole range of courses developed by Cooper throughout the last year. Courses ranging from complete novice, all the way through to courses covering all aspects of a race weekend are available. In the future, KMS North America is also looking to develop a mechanic/chassis tuning course, as well as an engine tutorial with the Jim Russell Karting Academy. The academy will then cover all aspects of the karting sport, welcoming anyone from the karting world to come and learn whatever it is they want to learn. KMS North America is looking forward to the new project for the team, and for the academy, over the next few years.

Throughout the upcoming 2013 season, KMS North America team will compete in the Florida Winter Tour, Rotax Euro Challenge (teaming up with the KMS Euro team), Eastern Canadian Karting Championship, Coupe du Québec, Canadian Karting Championships, Pan-American Championships, Rotax World Finals (Being held in New Orleans), and the the SuperKarts USA! SuperNationals.

Currently with the team in transition, KMS North America will use all the equipment of SRA Karting, and will develop its own identity ready for the start of the Canadian season.

Representing KMS North America at the 2013 Florida Winter Tour are Toranosuka Hamada of Japan in Micro-Max (several top-five finishes in the NTC Cup in Japan) Natael Cantin of Canada in Junior (a win last year in Mini-Max class of the ECKC), Jeffrey Kingsley of Canada in junior (2011 Mini-Max Canadian National Champion), Francois Quevedo of Mexico in Junior (competed at the 2012 World Finals), Bryce Choquer of Canada in DD2 (2012 Western Canadian Championship Senior champion), Luke Varley of the United Kingdom in DD2 (2009 Senior World Champion), Mau Hernendez of Costa Rica in DD2 (Seven-time Costa Rican Champion), Tadasuke Makino of Japan in DD2 (fifth in Suzuka Rotax Max Championship), Keven Ludi of Switzerland in DD2 (eighth in the Rotax Euro Challenge), Ben Cooper of Canada in DD2 (2008 & 2011 Senior World Champion and 2012 DD2 World Champion), and Christophe Adams of Belgium in DD2 Masters (2007 Rotax Max World Champion 2007 and 2009 DD2 Masters Champion).

KMS Team North America is very excited to participate in the first round of the Florida Winter Tour at Palm Beach International Raceway.
