| Waterloo Regional Kart Club Members Love Racing at Night |
The annual Waterloo Regional Kart Club night race has become one of our best attended races of the year. Not only did the 2012 edition have well over 100 karts registered for the event, but the grandstand was packed with racers, family and friends. The club executive estimated it had over 400 people in attendance.
For the second time of the season a qualifying format was run instead of drawing for starting positions in the heat races. The drivers had the extra challenge of being declared the fastest qualifier to look forward to.
The Fletcher Family on behalf of Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills was the race night sponsor. It is their greatest wish that cancer didn’t hurt people; but until a cure is found, the phone never stops ringing. CAShh will be here for them as they where there for WRKC's Buckler clan when they needed them. They are different, Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills is not associated with any cancer organization, nor do they receive any government grants to fund their services. They are entirely dependent on the community’s generosity and support. Their mandate is to help those touched by cancer. Donations to this worthwhile cause are gratefully accepted. The majority of donations go directly to patient programs. More information is available on their website at: http://www.cancerassistance.org
With regards to the feature race action, Keidon Fletcher converted the Cadet A fastest qualifier into a win, leading Kyle Dasilva, Josh Bisschop, Trevor Robillard, and Luke Pero to the line.
In Novice, Ciarra Collison likewise was able to make the most of being the fastest qualifier, scoring the win over Jake Watson, Miranda Gill, Peter Ditner, and Kieran Cunningham.
Jr. Lite had Jordan Howse as the fastest qualifier, but come the checkered flag, it was Andrew Whelan out front, ahead of Kaitlin Neely, John Ditner, Austin Bisschop, and Wesley Tobin.
Justin Collison was the fastest qualifier in Jr. Heavy, however, when the race was completed Tyler Turnbull was victorious in front of Justin Russell, Darren Dryden, and Kenny Rockwell.
Sr. Medium witnessed Adam Racine starting as the fastest qualifier, and ending as the winner ahead of Tristan Gill, Brandon Hauck, Joshua Shantz, and Brock Regan.
The Masters feature also had the fastest qualifier taking home top honors, with John Dryden pacing, Gerry Reis, Rich Mizener, Michael Grinyer, and Brian Wilkinson to the line.
The next race for the Waterloo Regional Kart Club will be held on Saturday August 18th.
