Ahead of the conclusion of the prestigious Eastern Canadian Karting Championships, it is time unveil the latest eKartingNews.ca Rotax DD2 Driver Rankings.
Christophe Boisclair is the new top dog in DD2 rankings, after a superb string of races has netted him a total of 4,739 points. The Quebec native was a force to be reckoned with his Birel kart in June and July, never finishing worse than second in the four races he contested. He was the runner-up in both the Quebec Cup #3 (889 pts) and Eastern Canadian Karting Championships #3 (900 pts) races at ICAR, before adding another P2 result (904 pts) and win (913 pts) in the ECKC doubleheader at Mosport. If Boisclair can keep challenging for wins in the closing stages of the 2012 campaign, he is a favorite to end the year P1 on the EKN.ca Driver Rankings.

Pier-Luc Ouellette remains in second in the latest points chase, thanks to a revised tally of 4,720 points. The Quebec standout, like his counter-part ahead of him on the table, enjoyed a very impressive run behind the wheel of his CRG entry in June and July. Starting in the ECKC #3 race at ICAR, Ouellette finished third in three consecutive ECKC races (894 pts & 894 pts at Mosport). The double World Champion didn't stop there, however, further adding the Quebec Cup #4 win (852 pts) at Mont-Tremblant to his 2012 resume. Ouellete will definitely be looking to continue his winning ways in the upcoming ECKC and Quebec Cup races, with an eye on returning to the top of the driver rankings.
Former number one man Zach Robichon now sits third on the DD2 scorecard with a new points total of 4,605. June and July proved to be an up and down affair for the Birel racer. After some disappointment during the combined Quebec Cup/ECKC event at ICAR, Robichon rebounded at Mosport with two fourth place finishes (885 pts/885 pts) in the ECKC doubleheader. The goal now is to build on that momentum for a late season charge, potentially regaining the lead spot on the driver listings.
Completing the top-five in the Rotax DD2 rankings are Enrico Menotti (Intrepid) and Daniel Burkett (LH). Menotti's four race outing behind the wheel in June and July, which resulted in the Ontario driver moving up one position in the rankings, was highlighted by a fifth place finish (876 pts) in race two (Race #5) of the ECKC doubleheader at Mosport. Burkett, who was one of the busiest racers since the last update, running seven races, fell one place in the standings, despite a third (803 pts) and second (812 pts) in the Western Canadian Championships doubleheader in Saskatoon, and a runner-up finish (844 pts) in the Quebec Cup #4 race at Mont-Tremblant.
The 'Hard Charger' in the top-25 of the Rotax DD2 rankings was Jesse Lazare with a new total of 2,510 pts. The Tony Kart racer improved 36 positions, moving into 25th in the standings. Lazare only raced twice since the last update, but finished fourth (871 pts) in the Quebec Cup #3 race at ICAR, and finished third (835 pts) in the Quebec Cup #4 race at Mont-Tremblant.
