| An Energizing Program of Events for 2012 Monaco de Trois-Rivières |
For its 14th edition, the Monaco de Trois-Rivières is proud to present karting fans with a high intensity schedule of events, from July 26-29, at the Terrain d’Exposition, and July 28th in downtown Trois-Rivières. Drivers from many Canadian provinces and from other countries are expected to participate.
The very exciting Rotax DD2 class will see the fight for the Eastern Canada Karting Championship title between the ultra-competitive driver Pierre-Luc Ouellet in his PSL GRG and Christophe Boisclair and Ben Cooper in their SRA Birels. The trio all have winning histories at the annual Rotax Grand World Championships. Who will emerge as the Rotax DD2 Champion? With only a 50 point difference between first and third place, the competition will be tight! Be there to see it!
To make things more interesting on Saturday (July 28), the event will host the 6-speed Shifter category, nicknamed “The Formula One of Karting” due to the top speeds of 160 km/h that the karts can reach. What further makes this category unique, is that it is the only category where the race features a standing start.
The Monaco de Trois-Rivières is extended this year, and will start on Thursday (July 26). The racing site of the event will be open from 8 am, and practices will run from Noon until 5:30 pm. On Friday (July 27), the site will open at 7:30 am, and practices will start at 8:30 am and run until 5:30 pm. On Saturday (July 28), the qualifiers, semi-finals, and finals for the fifth instalment of the Québec Cup will take place. The site will be open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. On Sunday (July 29), the qualifiers, semi-finals, and finals of The Eastern Canadian Karting Championship will take place.
Le Monaco de Trois-Rivières will also bring life to the downtown area. From 7 pm on, there will be numerous street performances along the Rue des Forges. These performances will be held as part of Saltare, an initiative brought forth and presented by the Corporation de l’Amphithéâtre de Trois-Rivières. There will also be a musical performance “Metallica en symphonie”, put together by the music program at l’Académie les Estacades and directed by Sébastien Lépine, the artistic director of the Orchestra. This performance, brought by the Corporation de l’Amphithéâtre de Trois-Rivières and Marmen, and aims to recreate the show that Metallica played in San Francisco in 1999 with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. It will contain almost 60 students from the program, as well as five musicians from Trois-Rivières. This free show will take place in the parc portuaire.
For those who love strange vehicles, there will be an exposition of modified vehicles during the l’Awside Tuning Show.
The Monaco de Trois-Rivières would like to thank its numerous partners, whom without their support this event would not have been possible. Admission and Parking at The Monaco de Trois-Rivières are free, so join the race!
