| eKartingNews.com to Provide ‘Trackside Live’ Coverage for Gatorz Challenge of the Americas |
The Gatorz Challenge of the Americas is steadily becoming one of the most prominent racing programs in North American karting. Popular with many Canadian drivers, the 2010 edition of the series earned Nicholas Latifi and Parker Thompson championship titles and berths on Team Canada for the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals. The series is returning for its fifth season in 2012 and will be run during the first three months of the year. New for this season, the program is partnering with the Howden Media Group and eKartingNews.com to provide full trackside coverage from all three races, taking its media effort to the next level. EKN will provide the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas with its full live program, incorporating live streaming online audio coverage in addition to its industry-leading written reports and interactive forum updates.
The 2012 Gatorz Challenge of the Americas series begins with its first-ever visit to the Musselman Honda Circuit in Tucson, Arizona on January 27-29. The second race of the series will take the teams back to the sunny and warm climate of Arizona on February 24-26 with a stop at the PKRA circuit in Phoenix. For the finale, the series will travel to the CalSpeed Karting Center in Fontana, California on March 30-April 1. This program offers some major rewards for its competitors, as the series will continue to provide direct qualifying spots to the Rotax Grand Finals for properly qualified series champions in the Senior, Junior and DD2 class, in addition to sponsored spots into the United States Rotax Grand Nationals or Pan American finale for properly qualified champions in the other categories. Other prizes announcements will be made in the coming weeks leading up to the opening weekend.
“After witnessing the EKN Trackside Live program at a few events over the past couple of year, as well as listening in to the several events that I could not attend, I am pleased to enter into this partnership with EKN and Rob Howden,” stated Gatorz Challenge of the Americas President Andy Seesemann. “While our coverage over the past few years has been good, this partnership will allow the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas to step up our Internet presence to a new level during event weekends. While I am sad that Tim ‘Chappy’ Chapman will no longer be our announcer, it will truly be a thrill for me to hear ‘The Voice of North American Karting’ announce our events.”
EKN Publisher Rob Howden will be handling the play-by-play duties for all the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas events, streamed live over the Internet at http://www.ekartingnews.com/live . EKN Managing Editor David Cole will handle the production of the broadcast. In addition to the EKN Live program, the duo will provide its full EKN Trackside coverage, which includes daily reports, official discussion thread postings, and Facebook/Twitter updates. The coverage will begin with qualifying and will continue through to the main events on both Saturday and Sunday.
“We are thrilled to be working with the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas for 2012,” stated EKN Managing Editor David Cole. “We have heard nothing but positive comments on the program, the staff and the racing that takes place. It will be our pleasure to be able to offer up our EKN Trackside Live coverage for those who are unable to attend the event, and the family and friends of the racers back home.”
Visit the series website at http://www.gatorzkarting.com for more information on the 2012 season, as entry forms will be available beginning on December 14.
