Mother Nature certainly did her part last Saturday, April 9th, as sunny skies set the tone for Simcoe Kart Club’s Driver and Mechanic training day at 3-S Go Karts in Sutton. The attending SKC Board of Directors and volunteers were fully prepared to put the entrants through a variety of on-track training sessions designed to guide the eager students towards a successful go kart racing season with the Simcoe Kart Club.
SKC would like to congratulate graduates Brian Busby, Jade Franklin, Tanner Hamilton, Dylan Mallais, Cole McLennan, Mitchell McLennan, Ethan Milwain, Bryan Moreira, Aaron Rohrer, Patrick Sharp and Vassil Tchiplakov. These drivers exceeded all expectations on the track and scored an average of 94% on ASN Canada’s new karter test.
SKC also wishes to offer heartfelt thanks to instructors Enzo Chiovitti, Jeremy Brutzki, Kyle Edgar, Nick Ledson, Cole Smith-Ledson, Ryan Mohan, Jamie Riberdy and Jaret Stewart. Comments from the dads and mechanics were heard throughout the day. They all appreciated how the instructors applied their personal knowledge and racing skills to their teaching methods. The speeds during the late afternoon free open practice were a testament to the growth and confidence level the instructors instilled in their students.
Very favourable comments were also heard about the number of volunteers SKC had assisting and positioned around the track. Jeff Edgar, Geordie Ledson, Anand Mohan, Bill Smith and Martin Stewart kept an eagle eye on the safe execution of the day’s activities making sure that everything went smoothly and according to the schedule.

SKC’s Technical Director, Bob Nebel, conducted an afternoon seminar for the mechanics during which he discussed general engine maintenance including such topics as changing the oil, cleaning the carburetor, and maintaining the clutch and valve train. Beth Riberdy trained Linda Brutzki and Maria Mohan on the AMB electronic timing system with Jessica Brutzki handing out the transponders. Wayne Wright tested all the relay systems between the scoring tower and scales, and checked the PA to make sure everything is ready for SKC’s first race in Sutton on May 1st.
Congratulations and thanks again to all for making this another Simcoe Kart Club success story!
