Continuing the GP dominance in the F125 Shifter class, 2009 BSRKC Shifter Champion Zach Meyer would lead the class and the team. On Saturday, Meyer fought hard through rainy conditions, a scenario he had minimal experience in, to earn a second place result. In his first race aboard a GP chassis, Kristian Jeffrey battled hard throughout the day, but was rewarded with a fourth-place finish.

On Sunday, veteran karter Frank Launi would join the team. While Meyer controlled the day’s events up front, Launi battled through the field from the rear, after a qualifying incident. Meyer swept all three on track sessions en route to victory, and joining him on the podium was Launi with a great drive to second. With these great results on the weekend, Meyer is now in a great position to defend his class championship.

“I’m very proud of Zach, he did a great job this weekend,” comments Frank Launi. “He battled hard for the win on Saturday in the rain, and then drove away from everyone, including me on Sunday.”

Among the junior classes, Nelson Learn was in hot pursuit in the Rotax Mini-Max class. The young racer took control on the classes’ final race on Saturday to win his first Regional competition. He backed it up on Sunday with a pole-position. Rotax Junior pilot Michael Taibi also found himself up front in his class, earning a fourth place finish on Saturday before charging back to stand on the second step of the podium on Sunday. Adding a couple more top five results for the team, Stefan Semeraro finished fifth on Saturday and Dante Lerra finished fifth on Sunday, both in Rotax Junior.

Finally, GP Karts had two special guests racing in the Rotax Micro-Max class on Saturday. Hubert Rezeszutek and Luca Vivona from Europe took part in Saturdays event’s with the duo both standing on the podium in second and third places respectively.

Up next for the GP Karts racing team will be the BSRKC event being held at Point Pelee Karting in Leamington on July 2-4. From there, the team will head to Trois Rivieres, Quebec for the Monaco de Trois Rivieres on July 23-25 as part of the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship.
