Goodwood Kartways/Intrepid Canada driver Bryson Schutte started his 2010 racing season off at the opening round of the Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour. After a successful season in 2009, Schutte would continue his assault on the Rotax Junior field as well as compete in four-cycle competition north of the border.

The 14-year-old Canadian pilot is currently in his fourth year of racing and 2009 was a career season for the young talent. Competing in two separate classes at the Toronto Racing Association of Karters (TRAK) program at Goodwood Kartways, Schutte would claim a total of ten victories and ten second place results in a combined 28 races. The solid results garnered the Redmarq Racing sponsored pilot with two series championships as well as a two day test in a Pro Formula 2000 car from Andersen Racing.

“2009 was a great season for us and we look forward to all of our events this coming season,” stated Bryson Schutte. “I’d like to become the Canadian national Champion in Rotax Junior and make it to the Rotax World Finals. I also have plans on defending my two TRAK championships as well as compete at the Florida Winter Tour and test a lot. It is going to be a busy season but I am excited.”

Along with all of his success last season, Schutte claimed a second place result in Junior Heavy and a sixth place result in Rotax Junior at the ASN Canadian National Championships that were held at Goodwood Kartways. Schutte was also named the Toronto Racing Association of Karters Junior Driver of the Year.

Schutte has only competed in one event so far in 2010 and though he showed speed to run inside the top five, some bad racing luck took him out of contention for a podium result at the Orlando Karting Center during the Florida Winter Tour competition. Though the weekend was tough, the following week provided Schutte with his F2000 test at Andersen Race Park in Palmetto, Florida.

With a seat fitting, track walk and some basic instructions, Schutte was circulating the facility in his first open wheel car experience. Being baptized by fire, Schutte learned the characteristics of a winged formula car as well as the power that comes with the F2000 machine.

“For his first time in a car, Bryson did very well and we were very pleased with his progress and speed throughout the two days,” stated Andersen Racing’s Remi Lanteigne. “I think Bryson is a smart young man that has a bright future in the world of motorsports. He showed tremendous qualities in absorbing a large amount of information and was able to apply it immediately on track. I hope to see Bryson in our Andersen Racing program in a very near future.”

Schutte added, “The F2000 car and series is a program that I am looking to work myself towards. The fields are big and the competition is second to none. I would like to thank Andersen Racing for the opportunity that I was provided and I look forward to enter the series in the future.”

Bryson would like to thank his current supporters and sponsors: Goodwood Kartways, Intrepid Canada, and Redmarq Racing. A special thank you has to go out to Goodwood Kartways/Intrepid Canada’s Daniel and Marco Di Leo for all their help and support throughout 2009 and onwards into 2010.
