A great day greeted karters as they decended on Goodwood Kartways for a full day of racing action. The completion of the heats will tally up the points and set the grids for the prefinals. The finishing order of the prefinals will set the grid of the 30 lap finals. All the day's events went off without a hitch and no red flags came out the entire day.
“From the Micro Max to the DD2, the racing was very close. It is a real drivers race,” stated Patrick Moreau, Rotax Max Challenge National Manager. “We are very happy with all the changes made to the Goodwood Kartways track. The facility looks great. I am very much looking forward to completing Team Canada tomorrow.”
The day would begin with a complete re-run of the Junior Rotax race, followed by heats two and three for all classes.
Canada Senior
The day would start with a morning warmup. Dimitra Tassos would pace the field with a quick lap of 43.909. In heat two a four-kart break would happen early as Gary Klutt took point followed by Darryl Timmers, Gerald Caseley and Dimitra Tassos. Timmers would charge back to P1 on lap six while Evan Hayden worked forward. With two laps left, Hayden move to P3 and then P2 going in corner four. At the stripe it was Timmers taking his second win in a row, followed by Hayden, Caseley, Klutt and Derek Michaud. In heat three the first two starts would be waved off. When the field went green, the front three rows ran side by side all the way into corner four. After one lap it was Timmers out front again, with Michaud in second, Klutt tucked into third and Dave Patrick rounding out the four kart front pack. Klutt would try his hand leading on lap four bringing Hayden with him. Just past halfway, Timmers would go back to P1 with Hayden in second spot but contact at the front exiting turn six scrambled the field. On lap ten contact between Timmers and Michaud allowed Kevin Monteith to take over P1. At the waving checkerd flag it was Monteith over Timmers, Klutt and Caseley, who made a strong late race charge forward. After the three heats were counted it was Timmers with low score taking pole for the prefinal. He would share the front with Evan Hayden. Row two would have Monteith on the inside and Gary Klutt on the outside.

Canada Junior
Some of the day's best racing action came from Canada Junior. In morning warm-up, it was Joshua Dunand setting the early pace. A number of drivers in heat two would try their hand at the front including Bryson Schutte, Ryan Klutt and Reid Arnold. Schutte would get the holeshot from his pole position with Klutt going to P1 before they completed lap one. Schutte would charge back to lead on lap four with Arnold in hot pursuit. With two to go Klutt would make his move back to the point with Arnold in tow. After ten circuits it would be Klutt taking the win over Arnold and Schutte. In heat three it was the Klutt show. After a good start the #71 machine would grab the lead as the crossed the stripe the first time by moving Schutte to P2. As the chase pack of Schutte, Arnold and Sean McPhee began to battle, Klutt pulled out a huge gap taking the win by 1.2 seconds over second place Arnold and third place Schutte. With the three heats complete the field will line up with Klutt on pole with two wins and Arnold off pole. The second row will be Shutte and Maximie Couturier.

It was Chris Glover taking over the lead early, then Hugo taking the top spot from mid point and taking the win. He would be followed by Glover and Jonathan Tetreault. In the B vs. D heat two is was PLO and Stefano Romano on the front row. Out of one is was PLO, Romano, Massimo Scotti and Michael Vincec. Contact into corner four would move Scotti back to fifth while Marco DiLeo grabbed three spots up to P3. DiLeo would put his head down and chase the lead duo who had checked out. With one to go DiLeo was able to make it stick on the #8 of PLO taking over P2. Up front it was Romano cruising to the win with teammate DiLeo in second and PLO in third.
In the Avs. D heat race three is was many of the same palyers acting out the play. In this story is was very much about Romano. Despite starting at the front he would be shuffled back early and need to charge forward. JFL lead early with Romano moving into P2 by mid point. On lap ten Romano would grab P1 and take the win followed across by JFL and Darren White moving nicely up into third spot. In the final of the round of the heats, it was B vs. C putting PLO on the front row along side brother Hugo. Again the man to watch was DiLeo as he charged through the field. Rotax Junior
The Junior Rotax group would run all three heats today as their heat from yesterday was wiped off the schedule. In morning warm up it was Garett Grist taking fast lap with a 38.181. In heat one the win would go to Andrew Waring, with Bryson Schutte taking second and Grist taking third, setting fast lap of 37.733. In heat two it was Waring again taking the win with a strong drive out front. He would take the lead early and contact in corner four involving Steven Szigeti allowed Grist to slip by into P3. On lap eight Grist would grab P2 taking Szigeti into turn four under braking.
At the line it was Waring followed across by Grist in P2 and Szigeti in P3. In heat three there would again be loads of action at the front as drivers looked to score well in the last heat round. Of the start it was Szigeti, Waring, Austin Milwain, Grist and Bryson Schutte. There was big contact Milwain and Waring into turn four on lap three sending Waring wide allowing Grist to slide by into P3 and chase down Milwain in P2. On lap six Grist would take over second and look to chase down Szigeti who had built a nice lead. Waring would get back up to third as Schutte battled Milwain and Artem Korolev. At the line it was Szigeti by over half a second followed by Grist and Waring. With all the heats completed in one day the final results would put Waring on pole for the prefinal with two wins. He would be joined on the front row by Grist who managed three top threes. The second row would have Szigeti on the inside and Austin Milwain on the outside.
Rotax Micro Max
Micro Max was definatley the Devlin Defrancesco show. He would be quickest in morning warm up with a time of 43.300. Defrancesco followed that up with a win in the heat two over a hard charging Gaberal Amaral, who held the lead early on. At the line it was Defrancesco, Amaral and Allain Moreau. In heat three the #00 would get it done again taking the win with Amaral in second and Jakob Sevigny in third. For the prefinal the Micros will line up with Defrancesco on pole and Amaral along side. Row two will see Moreau and Austin Riley.
Rotax DD2
One of the most dominate performances of the weekend has come from Daniel Morad in the DD2 class. The A1GP Team Lebanon driver has come back to support his home track and swept the heat races scoring three impressive victories over a field that includes two Canadian Champions. In heat two it was Morad over local favorite Frank Launi and Pier-Luc Ouellette with Curtis Fox taking the fourth spot. In heat three it was Morad again this time over a hard charging PLO and Frank Launi with a nice top three. After the points were added it was clear that Morad would be on pole scoring zero points over three heats. In the off pole spot for the prefinal will be Frank Launi. In row two PLO will be set inside while Launi's teammate Zach Meyer will be behind him fourth spot. This should make for an interesting start.

West would hold P1 as Stroll charged to the front quickly from fourth spot taking over P3 on lap four and then P2 by half distance. After the race West would get a two position penalty putting Stroll on top followed by Fontaine and West. For the prefinal it will be Fontaine on pole, Stroll off pole, West inside row two and Claman-DeMelo outside row two.
